Ever since iOS 7 embraced flat design, opinions in China have been decidedly mixed. Now, as the title of this article suggests, the WordPress admin dashboard can go flat too. If you’re tired of the current WordPress admin interface, I’m confident that the MP6 plugin will give you an entirely fresh experience.

MP6 is an official plugin developed by the WordPress team, designed to test ideas that aren’t yet ready for the mainline (Trunk) version.

After installing the latest version, the most striking change is that the entire admin interface adopts a flat design — gone are the old gradient effects. All icons are rendered via web fonts, and the entire dashboard features responsive design, making it easy to manage your WordPress site from a phone.

Perhaps one day, the flat design experience this plugin brings will become WordPress’s default admin interface — though that’s by no means certain.
